Large-Scale ETH Accumulation Signals Long-Term Confidence Despite 2026 Volatility Risks
Institutional accumulation of Ethereum continues to accelerate as Trend Research deepens its exposure to the second-largest cryptocurrency. The Hong Kong–based investment firm recently added $35 million worth of Ether, lifting its total holdings to approximately 601,000 ETH valued at $1.8 billion, underscoring a long-term bullish outlook even as near-term market risks persist.
On-chain data shows Trend Research has funded much of its ETH accumulation through decentralized finance. The firm has borrowed roughly $958 million in stablecoins via Aave, with an average ETH acquisition price near $3,265. Unlike firms that rely on gradual accumulation strategies, Trend Research has indicated it will continue buying Ether regardless of short-term price swings.
The firm has committed to maintaining a “maximum position” in ETH ahead of the next full market expansion.
Trend Research now ranks among the largest corporate Ether holders globally, trailing only a small number of major entities, despite remaining privately held and absent from most public tracking dashboards.
Bullish 2026 Outlook Anchored in Macro and Regulatory Shifts
The firm’s leadership has expressed confidence that 2026 will bring multiple tailwinds, including expanding on-chain financial infrastructure, wider stablecoin adoption, easing monetary policy cycles, and clearer crypto regulation. These factors are viewed as catalysts for higher long-term valuations across digital assets.
Trend Research’s outlook contrasts with forecasts calling for a potential ETH drawdown toward the $1,800–$2,000 range in early 2026.

While Trend Research continues accumulating, derivatives data shows experienced traders remain net short on Ether by over $100 million, reflecting caution around short-term price action. However, recent additions to long positions suggest early signs of improving risk appetite.
The divergence highlights a market balancing near-term volatility against long-term structural optimism for Ethereum.
