Traditional Market Data Meets Blockchain Innovation

In a significant move for the blockchain industry, blockchain oracle provider Chainlink has partnered with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) — the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange — to bring foreign exchange (forex) and precious metals market data directly onchain.

The collaboration integrates ICE’s Consolidated Feed, which compiles information from over 300 global exchanges and marketplaces, into Chainlink Data Streams. This enhancement aims to provide low-latency, tamper-resistant data to over 2,000 decentralized applications (DApps) and financial institutions operating in tokenized markets.

According to industry experts, reliable market data is the backbone of automated settlements and high-value digital transactions. Maurisa Baumann, vice president of global data delivery platforms at ICE, emphasized that “ensuring blockchain-based markets have the same level of reliability and transparency as traditional markets is an important step in growing the global blockchain economy.”

With ICE’s data, decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, asset managers, and banks will have access to more accurate forex and metals pricing, helping reduce volatility risks and improve execution in tokenized trading environments.

Fernando Vazquez, president of capital markets at Chainlink Labs, stated that the collaboration is “a key milestone toward building a unified, globally accessible onchain financial system.” He added that the integration will help enable the tokenization of trillions of dollars in assets.

Growing Demand for Tokenized Real-World Assets

The announcement comes amid a sharp rise in tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). Standard Chartered recently projected the RWA market could exceed $30 trillion by 2034. Current onchain RWA value stands at $25.7 billion, with over 347,000 holders — an increase of nearly 14% in the past month.

Stablecoins, another major component of digital markets, currently exceed $260 billion in value, with over 188 million holders worldwide.

By combining ICE’s trusted market data with Chainlink’s blockchain infrastructure, this partnership sets the stage for more secure, transparent, and globally connected financial markets.
