LIT Distribution Enters Top 10 Airdrops as Majority of Recipients Hold Tokens
Decentralized exchange Lighter has completed one of the most significant token distributions in the crypto sector, with a $675 million airdrop of Lighter Infrastructure Tokens (LIT). The event places Lighter among the top 10 largest crypto airdrops by dollar value, drawing both attention and debate around its token structure.
Details of the Lighter Airdrop
Blockchain analytics data shows that early participants received approximately $675 million worth of LIT, while only a small portion of tokens were immediately withdrawn from the platform. This distribution surpasses several historic airdrops and ranks just behind other major events from previous market cycles. Despite its scale, it remains far smaller than the record-breaking multibillion-dollar airdrops seen during earlier DeFi booms.
Recipient Behavior After the Token Launch
Post-airdrop data indicates strong holding behavior. Approximately 75% of recipients continue to hold their LIT tokens, while an additional 7% have accumulated more on the open market. This suggests a level of confidence among early users in the project’s long-term potential following the token generation event.
According to data shared by blockchain sleuth Arndxt:
Concerns have emerged around Lighter’s supply allocation. Half of the total token supply is reserved for the ecosystem, while the remaining 50% is allocated to the team and investors, subject to a one-year cliff and extended vesting. Critics argue this structure may limit upside unless trading volume and user retention increase.
With a market capitalization near $678 million, the Lighter airdrop marks a major milestone, highlighting both the growing scale of token distributions and the rising scrutiny of DeFi tokenomics.
