The Bitcoin giant’s rapid-fire investment cycle showcases the unmatched speed of crypto capital deployment

Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, says his company can convert fresh capital into Bitcoin (BTC) within an hour — a pace he claims is “a thousand times faster than anything else you’ve ever seen in your life.”

Speaking on the Market Disrupters podcast, Saylor explained that corporate Bitcoin treasuries operate on a dramatically shorter investment cycle than traditional industries like real estate or energy.

Sometimes we’re literally selling $50 million an hour or $100 million an hour and buying the Bitcoin the same hour,” Saylor said. “We could raise a billion dollars in a day — have $20 million of exposure at 4 p.m., and by 6 p.m., we’re fully done.

Michael Saylor said his company can buy a vast amount of Bitcoin in short time. : YouTube

The statement comes as Saylor once again hinted that Strategy may be preparing for another Bitcoin purchase, following a similar teaser shared on social media over the weekend.

Strategy’s Bitcoin strategy operates ‘in real time’

Saylor said his company’s business model allows it to build financial positions in real time, comparing it to “constructing a building in 60 seconds.”

We’re literally building it in real time. If someone wanted to buy $500 million in a minute, the trade is done in 60 seconds. We create the collateral and buy the Bitcoin that day,” he said.

Strategy currently holds 640,250 BTC, representing nearly 2.5% of Bitcoin’s total supply, worth roughly $70 billion at current market prices. Its aggressive accumulation strategy has made it the largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally.

Saylor defends Bitcoin treasury model against critics

Since initiating its Bitcoin accumulation in 2020 with an initial 20,000 BTC purchase, Strategy has faced criticism over shareholder dilution and perceived financial risks.

Saylor dismissed these arguments, saying skeptics are “strategically ignorant” of how Bitcoin-backed finance works.

Equity investors value the company based on Bitcoin yield per share,” he said. “Credit investors value our security on USD yield — we’re swapping fiat yield for BTC yield with Bitcoin as collateral.

Analysts say Saylor’s remarks highlight the growing speed and sophistication of institutional Bitcoin accumulation, which could further tighten supply if new capital inflows accelerate.
