Backed by $200M from Asian institutions, fund aims to accelerate corporate Bitcoin adoption across global markets

Sora Ventures has unveiled a $1 billion Bitcoin treasury fund, marking what it calls Asia’s first large-scale institutional Bitcoin pool. The initiative, announced at Taipei Blockchain Week, is designed to bring together corporate capital and reinforce Bitcoin’s role as a reserve asset for treasuries across the region and beyond.

$200M Initial Commitment from Institutions

The fund launches with an initial $200 million capital commitment from institutional partners in Asia. According to founder Jason Fang, the remaining $800 million will be deployed over the next six months.

“This is the first time in history that institutional money has come together, from local to regional, and now to a global stage,” Fang said. He added that Asia’s fragmented approach to Bitcoin adoption requires a unified framework that can replicate Bitcoin-first treasury strategies already gaining traction in the US and EU.

Centralized Institutional Bitcoin Pool

Unlike isolated corporate purchases, Sora Ventures envisions the fund as a centralized vehicle for institutional Bitcoin accumulation. The company said it aims to support Asia’s early Bitcoin treasury pioneers, while creating synergies between local and international markets.

The treasury fund will also act as a model for companies considering Bitcoin as part of their reserve strategy. “Our goal is to accelerate adoption among corporate treasuries and foster greater global integration of Bitcoin into traditional financial frameworks,” the firm noted in its announcement.

The launch comes amid increasing institutional interest in Bitcoin across Asia. Japan’s Metaplanet remains the region’s largest corporate holder, with 20,000 BTC worth $2.2 billion after its latest purchase of 1,009 BTC. Other significant holders include Cango Inc., with more than $570 million in Bitcoin, and Bitfufu, which also maintains sizable reserves, according to BitcoinTreasuries data.

By pooling institutional capital, Sora Ventures’ fund could set a precedent for corporate adoption, reinforcing Bitcoin’s position as a reserve asset within Asia’s financial landscape.
