Bitcoin giant Strategy has unveiled a bold new financial instrument aimed at accelerating its Bitcoin accumulation strategy. On Monday, the firm announced the launch of its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (ticker: STRC), a $100-pegged stock offering designed to act like a synthetic stablecoin with yield.
Strategy Seeks to Convert Fiat Into Bitcoin at Scale
Michael Saylor’s firm plans to raise capital through an initial public offering (IPO) of 5 million STRC shares, with each share pegged at $100 and paying a variable monthly dividend starting at 9% annually. According to the company’s filing, the proceeds will be used to buy more Bitcoin and support general operations.
“This stock is engineered to absorb fiat like a high-yield conduit into Bitcoin,” wrote Bitcoin author Adam Livingston.
STRC Functions Like a Yield-Bearing Synthetic Stablecoin
The unique feature of STRC is its dividend adjustment mechanism, which allows Strategy to adjust the yield monthly to ensure the stock remains near its $100 par value. This IPO comes just weeks after Strategy filed for a $4.2 billion at-the-market (ATM) offering on July 7 and recently disclosed a $740 million Bitcoin purchase, acquiring BTC at an average price of $118,940.
With this move, Strategy continues to lead all public companies in Bitcoin holdings, far outpacing Tesla and other corporate adopters.
Implications for Bitcoin’s Market Maturity
By offering STRC, Strategy is creating an entirely new financial bridge between fiat and Bitcoin, helping large-scale investors dollar-cost average into BTC with yield exposure. Experts like Adam Back of Blockstream believe these innovations could help drive Bitcoin to a $100 trillion market cap as corporations pivot toward Bitcoin treasury strategies.
“This is front-running hyperbitcoinization at a scalable, sustainable pace,” Back wrote.
